So spring has sort of sprung, the weather is looking a little brighter and the days are definitely lighter. And with this new season's connotation with cleaning I am going to do a good spring clean on my website and blog.
It won't be a sudden change, as I'm currently on maternity leave and this means my free windows don't come up too often and when they do they're not very long.
I think it has been too long since selling my laser cutter and stopping making, so I am working hard behind the scenes to get things up and running again. The idea is to start with prints mainly with the possibility of pins and patches too.
I am drawing a lot more now than I have done in quite a while and working on a collection of designs which I hope to sell as prints. I think the best way for me to do this is to run a kickstarter campaign, I have done one before which was very successful. So I plan to set up a campaign to help fund buying a printer. The reason behind this rather than outsourcing is that I can print on demand. My previous print purchases were in batches of 50 to get the cost down, and would mean I could only by one or two designs at a time.
Another reason to buy a printer is the idea of customisation, these would make great gifts especially for children's bedrooms.
It's all very exciting as I have missed being part of the creative community, not taking part in markets and fairs so I am really looking forward to getting involved in this sort of thing again. It will be completely different this time round though as I now live in Norfolk so I need to find a new community in the area.
There's lots to do around here along with looking after a 3 month baby which is all very fun and tiring too, but I'm excited for what the future will bring.
Do you have any advice for working on your own business and being a new mum?
